When you're the passenger on a scooter, don't hold onto the driver. Grip the handle BEHIND you instead. This way, if the driver stops short, you can brace yourself easily and won't go plunging into them.

Don't talk in a normal voice on public transportation. Only inconsiderate foreigners, old people going deaf, self-centered adults, and as-yet-untrained toddlers do that.

Don't worry about taking a taxi! They're safe and don't scam you, because taxi rides within a city are calculated by the meter. Period. -- If traveling longer distances, either haggle first, or opt for a rideshare, bus, train, high speed rail (HSR) or rental car.

Scooters can't go on the highway. Don't accidentally drive up an entry ramp.

Buy an EasyCard from a convenience store and preload it so that you're good to go for city buses, subway (MRT) rides, etc. instead of fumbling with cash as you board and exit public transit. It saves you the hassle of inquiring about the cost of your fare, and even often gets you a slight discount!

If you accidentally leave your keys in the ignition of your scooter, and upon returning find them missing, check inside the cup holder area. Chances are, someone noticed and hid your keys for you!

Pay attention to large yellow characters painted on the road. It means scooters can't drive in that lane.
